Yesterday Ted Cruz complained that the President insulted him when he said:
"When individuals say that we should have a religious test and that only Christians - proven Christians - should be admitted -- that's offensive and contrary to American values," President Obama said in Manila yesterday. "I cannot think of a more potent recruitment tool for ISIL than some of the rhetoric that's been coming out of here during the course of this debate."
Cruz responded:
"If you want to insult me, you can do it overseas, you can do it in Turkey, you can do it in foreign countries, but I would encourage you, mister president, come back and insult me to my face"
There was a group of people that did boo Cruz to his face and it was the very persecuted Christians Cruz claims to support. In 2014 Senator Cruz spoke in front of group called In Defense of Christians that was underscoring the persecution Christians faced by ISIS. Ted Cruz as Ted Cruz does made it about him (and Israel). He started,
“Christians have no greater ally than Israel”
At this point the audience started heckling him and prompted boos and cries of “stop it!” and “enough” and “no!”
After a while he said "If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews, I will not stand with you" and exited the stage. There you have it Ted Cruz said because of political difference does not stand with Christians who are being persecuted by ISIS.
In a statement afterwards he accused the Middle Eastern Christians of anti-Semitism. The Christians there later complained to the Assyrian News Agency that he "hijacked our conference". In short, for Senator Cruz and others in the GOP like him persecuted Christians in the Middle East are just a prop to advance their political agenda. In 2015, only Christians can be legitimate refugees -- the very Christians he didn’t stand with in 2014.
